Who is responsible
OdoTrace is operated by Martynas Urbanavicius, established in Poland. You can reach it at [email protected]. These terms apply between you and the operator of OdoTrace.
What OdoTrace is
OdoTrace is a free, informational tool for used-car buyers. It decodes VINs, brings together available official records and model-level information, and flags possible odometer decreases between comparable dated readings. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
A pre-check, not a guarantee or advice
- A result is a starting point for questions about a real car. It is not a complete vehicle history report, a guarantee of any kind, a valuation, or legal, tax or financial advice.
- A missing record is an unknown. It does not establish that a vehicle has a clean history, and no result replaces inspecting the car and its original documents.
- A possible odometer decrease is a reason to investigate. It is not proof of fraud, and a rising sequence does not cover years without records.
- Recall information at model level does not tell you whether a particular VIN is affected or repaired. Ask the manufacturer or an authorised dealer.
- Sources can be incomplete, delayed or wrong, and a VIN decode can be partial for European vehicles. Check important facts with the seller, the official registry and an independent inspector before you pay.
Tax and cost calculators
The tax and cost tools give estimates from published rules and rates. Rates and rules change, some inputs may be approximated (the tool pages say where), and your case may differ. Confirm the amount with the competent authority before relying on it.
Using the lookups fairly
- Use OdoTrace for your own research on vehicles you are buying, selling, importing or owning, and lawfully.
- Do not run automated, bulk or systematic queries, and do not scrape lookup results. Lookups call free public sources that publish their own limits, and OdoTrace applies rate limits to protect them.
- Do not try to get around rate limits, quotas or other technical protections, or to disrupt the service.
- Do not use the site to find out who owns a vehicle or to harass anyone. OdoTrace does not show owner details.
OdoTrace may slow down, block or stop requests that break these rules or put the service at risk.
Source data
The data shown belongs to the organisations that publish it and is used under their licences or terms. The methodology page lists each source, its licence and its limits. Using OdoTrace does not give you any rights over that data beyond what its publisher allows. If you reuse it, follow the publisher’s licence.
Availability and changes
OdoTrace is provided as it is, free of charge. Sources can change, go offline or be switched off, for example a pilot that is paused or a source that reaches its daily limit, and features can change or be removed without notice.
How OdoTrace is funded
OdoTrace is free to use and shows no advertising. Some links to paid history-report providers (currently carVertical and autoDNA) are affiliate links, labelled as such where they appear. If you buy from one, OdoTrace may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This does not change what the free check shows. Links to official registries and other free tools are not affiliate links. Other partner links may be added in future and will be labelled in the same way.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, OdoTrace and its operator are not liable for losses from decisions you make using the site, including purchases, or for indirect or consequential losses, or for errors or gaps in third-party data. Nothing in these terms limits any right or liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including any rights you have as a consumer.
Privacy, corrections and contact
How OdoTrace handles the identifiers you enter is described in the privacy notice. To report an error or ask a question, see the contact page or email [email protected].
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
