Plan the registration cost

Choose what you are doing, then enter the figures for this car. The estimate updates as you type.

What are you planning?

A change of keeper can trigger this charge. Check the seller's vehicle documents before agreeing the total cost.

02 / Vehicle figures

Use only the fuel combinations listed below for each column. For a gas-only or another unlisted entry, choose the uncertain option and ask Regitra.

Check the registration certificate (often V.7), certificate of conformity or other origin/approval document. Use NEDC if documented; use WLTP only if NEDC is absent. For several fuels, use the lowest CO2 value within the selected test method. Do not use an EPA rating or a VIN/model suggestion as the registration value. Check a VIN.

If the document does not identify the test method, or shows both NEDC and WLTP and you cannot tell which value applies, ask Regitra before relying on an estimate.

Registration tax

Figures as of September 2026 · EUR

This estimates the amount if the tax applies to your registration. It excludes registration services, number plates and any import or transport costs. Regitra confirms applicability and the binding amount.

How the tax is worked out

This charge can apply when an M1 passenger car or N1 light commercial is first registered in Lithuania, its keeper changes, or it is registered again after deregistration. The calculated amount is zero at or below 130 g/km. A fully electric car has no combustion CO2 for this charge. Some registrations are exempt even if the vehicle's calculated CO2 amount is above the threshold.

Each 10 g/km band above the threshold adds a fixed amount. The petrol amount is the base. Diesel, diesel/electric and diesel/gas use the diesel column (twice the petrol amount). Petrol/electric uses the petrol column. The gas column covers petrol/gas, petrol/ethanol, petrol/electric/gas, petrol/ethanol/gas, gas/electric, ethanol and ethanol/gas (90 percent of petrol). An unlisted or uncertain fuel combination needs Regitra's classification. The base amounts are then scaled by the annual consumer-price index. The 2026 index is 144.2, applied from 2026-01-09.

Which CO2 number should I enter?

Under paragraph 12 of the official calculation procedure, Regitra selects a documented NEDC value first. It uses WLTP only if NEDC is unavailable, then an unspecified test procedure if neither is available. Where the selected method gives values for several fuels, the lowest of those values is used. A US EPA value or a model-level VIN suggestion does not establish the value Regitra will use.

What if V.7 or CO2 is missing?

Look for the figure in the vehicle's certificate of conformity or other origin/approval documents. If there is no usable documented CO2 figure, ask Regitra to determine it. Its procedure allows a statutory formula or a comparable vehicle record in specified cases; entering zero here would give a false estimate.

Does the charge apply to my purchase?

A local purchase with a change of keeper can trigger it, as can an import registered for the first time. Regitra lists exceptions, including qualifying historic vehicles, certain vehicles adapted for a disabled person, inheritance, registration without a keeper change and short temporary registration for export. Confirm your case with Regitra; the calculator only estimates the CO2-based amount.

This page estimates the CO2-based registration tax only. Regitra’s registration service, certificate and number-plate fees are separate, so the total registration cost can be higher.
