Our purpose
OdoTrace is a free VIN decoder and mileage-checking tool for used-car buyers in Europe. It brings together available vehicle evidence, compares comparable dated odometer readings for possible decreases, and explains where an official country check or an inspection is still needed.
A report is a starting point for questions about the actual car. Its value depends on the records available for that VIN, plate, country and time period. A missing result is an unknown, not proof of an uneventful past.

Read each result for its own question
Decoded attributes can help compare the seller's description with the vehicle. A decode does not authenticate the identifier attached to the car, prove ownership, or reveal its full history. Compare the VIN on the vehicle with original documents.
Where available, inspection records provide dated readings and test facts for an identified vehicle. A possible odometer decrease is a reason to investigate identifiers, units, transcription and instrument changes; it is not proof of fraud. A rising sequence cannot cover unrecorded years.
Historical mileage distributions and recall campaigns can guide a buyer's questions. They do not verify a specific car's mileage or whether its VIN is affected by a recall. Ask the manufacturer or authorised dealer about VIN applicability and repair status.
Sources and dates
OdoTrace names the source and status of each check. Some records are returned directly; some require a separate official website and different input. A link to a country service is a next step, not data already included in your report.

Accuracy and corrections
Source publications, observation periods, successful data updates and page review dates mean different things. We aim to label them separately and correct broken links, mistaken units, stale wording and data errors when verified against the underlying source.
If you find an issue, email contact@odotrace.com with the page URL, source name and date, the specific error, and what the original source says. For a general page correction, do not include VINs, registration numbers, personal details or vehicle documents. For a purchase decision, confirm urgent questions with the original authority, manufacturer or an independent inspector while the issue is reviewed.
