CO2 and consumption (EU type approval)

EU type-approval figures for the 2021 Toyota Prius, by fuel. Consumption is a test-cycle figure and understates real world use, so treat any running-cost estimate as a floor.

124.5g/km CO2
5.39 l/100km (WLTP)
Petrol Hybrid
31.2g/km CO2
9.9 kWh/100km (WLTP)

EU recall signals for the Toyota Prius

Model-level recall activity from EU market registers. Counts are advisory and are shown per source, never added together. Not specific to this car.

EU Safety Gate: 17 campaigns KBA (DE): 27 campaigns RDW NL open recalls: 3.0% of fleet

In the Dutch RDW register, about 3.0% of registered Toyota Prius cars currently carry at least one open recall. Recalls apply to production windows, not model years alone. See the full per source breakdown, with dates and the reported risk, on the Toyota Prius recalls page.

UK MOT reliability, proxy for ex-UK imports

UK MOT fleet, proxy data for ex-UK imports (ADR 0007). This is UK data, shown here only because the model also carries an EU signal above.

Of 1,140 initial (first attempt) class 4 MOT tests on 2021 Toyota Prius cars in 2023, 8.4% failed. That is higher than the 5.5% median for cars of the same age in this fleet (a 2.9 point difference).

Source: DVSA anonymised MOT test results 2023, Open Government Licence v3.0. A UK fleet proxy, not a per-car result. Many imports to the Baltics are ex-UK, so the UK failure pattern is a useful, honestly labelled prior. It is not a substitute for an inspection.

What this is, and what it is not

These figures are an aggregate distribution across many Toyota Prius cars of the 2021 model year, computed from UK DVSA MOT odometer readings used as a fleet proxy. The MOT dataset is anonymised and carries no VIN and no personal data.

It is not a per-VIN history. It cannot tell you the mileage of one specific car or whether a particular odometer was wound back. Use it as a sanity check: a reading far below the typical band for the age is a clue worth investigating, not proof of anything on its own.

To decode a specific VIN, use the free VIN decoder. For a per-VIN odometer pre-check against official READ-type readings (UK DVSA MOT, plus the Dutch RDW verdict when you add a plate), use the mileage & rollback check. For exactly how this band is computed and every source behind it, see the data methodology.
