Where to check official records

Choose the route that matches the car’s history. These services answer different questions; one country’s result cannot fill another country’s missing years. See OdoTrace’s coverage and source limits before using the free vehicle check.

  • United Kingdom: GOV.UK MOT history uses the registration number to show available test results and recorded mileage. Follow our UK buyer guide, especially for an exported car.
  • Netherlands: RDW’s odometer check can judge a supplied current reading or the last registered reading. It does not show the public a reading-by-reading history. Follow our Dutch buyer guide.
  • Czechia: the Ministry of Transport’s Kontrola tachometru portal accepts a VIN and shows available inspection odometer readings. They may differ from the current total. Follow our Czech buyer guide.
  • Safety recalls: for a UK vehicle, GOV.UK’s recall service offers a registration-based check and model search. Wherever the vehicle was registered, ask its manufacturer or authorised dealer to confirm VIN applicability and repair status.
