Czech vehicle registration facts and inspection odometer readings answer different questions. A registry match can identify vehicle attributes without supplying a complete mileage history.
Start with the official odometer portal
- Open the Czech Ministry of Transport's Kontrola tachometru service.
- Enter the VIN from the vehicle documents and complete the portal's human-verification step if requested.
- Compare the dated readings with the car and the seller's original inspection documents. Keep a note of missing years and country changes.
The ministry says the portal shows readings recorded during technical and emissions inspections; these need not represent the vehicle's actual current total distance. Official explanation.
What OdoTrace adds—and where its coverage ends
The OdoTrace vehicle check can return Czech registry facts and selected official STK inspection readings from locally loaded files. The report shows the available file window and source status. It does not automatically scrape the portal or promise that all historical files have been loaded.
Unit limitation: the imported STK source publishes a raw odometer number without a unit. OdoTrace explicitly assumes kilometres for comparisons and marks that assumption. Check the original inspection documents before relying on a suspected decrease, especially for a car imported from a market using miles.
If the result is empty or partial
- Recheck the VIN against the vehicle, not only the advert.
- Use the official portal above; a missing locally loaded match does not establish that the ministry has no records.
- Ask for the original STK certificates and service invoices, and connect them to previous-country documents where the vehicle was imported.
- If the report says a source was unavailable or its validation is old, treat that part as unresolved evidence.
Do not turn a sequence into a guarantee
